What is SciO Juniors?
SciO Juniors is based on the rules of Science Olympiad Division A (Elementary Schools). It involves team-based competitions in a variety of science-related subjects called Events that covers biology, physics, chemistry, and engineering.
The program will be open to students in Grade 4 in the Chappaqua Central School District. It will take place at Horace Greeley High School on May 17 and May 18, 2025; 1st day for preparation and coaching and the 2nd day for a mini competition.
The offered Events which are detailed here, are designed to be age-appropriate, with simpler concepts and challenges suited for younger students. SciO Juniors aims to spark an interest in science rather than foster competitiveness, helping students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a fun, hands-on environment.
The Events will be coached by award-winning students whose profiles can be viewed here.
Please note, there is a maximum capacity of 15 students per school. Students will be paired for each Event and will be limited to 2 Events. Additionally, there is a $30 registration fee per student to cover the cost of materials and lunch. Registration will be done via PTA Membership Toolkit and opens April 29, 2025 at 8pm here.
